My name is Antony Macario. I am from Guatemala, I moved to the United States in 2005. I have been living here for 6 years. When I first herd about facing history I thought that it was just another boring class, but when I meet the teacher Mr. Gallager he changed my mind. He was my 10th grade history teacher and I found out that he also teach another class, witch was interesting. When the class was coming into an end he told us about the other class that he was teaching and it is called Facing History. When he spooked about that class it made me decide that I wanted take the class. I wanted to learn more about it, because when I was in Guatemala I didn't know a lot about the history and everything that has happen in the world. So I wasn’t really interesting on History that much, but when I hear everything that they learn about and the change of the voice that he had when he explained to us what that class was a bout it made me decide that I wanted to learn more and more about it. Facing History is the class that you have to take before you graduate from High School it will teach you the most important lesson of you life.

Make a Difference Essay
“What Facing History and Ourselves Meant to me”
Facing history is not just another class, Is the class were you learn who you really are? And, what you want to become? Facing History mean to me a new world of understanding. This class has tough me a really good lessons for example not to make a person feel less important than others because everyone is the same in this world. This class has change the way I see the world. This class has benefited me as a student because seen and learning what happen in the past hopefully I don’t make the same mistakes in the future. Also learning this in an age were I thought that everybody was different because of were they were from or they religions has change my mind in they way that I used to tough.
This class has helping me to be a better person. One of the benefits of taking this class is the kind of teacher that we have Mr. Gallager he made every class interesting the tone of voice that he had every time the class was moving he change the way he spoke he knew what to say in every situation he motivate us to share our ideas no matter how bad hey were he always took us seriously and that gave us more confidence to be more involve in than class.
This class meant to me a lot now because it has teaching me well lessons that I will never forget I my life. Lessons that will help me in the rest of my life to be a better person and to learn how to appreciate life because we don’t know when it can end and it is better to appreciate it when you have the time to do it. Facing History is the class that has helping me to change in life as a person. This class was the best class I have ever taken I enjoy it and I learn everything that I could from it.
The film "The boy in the striped pajamas" was my favorite movie it made me realize how terrible life was at that time how Nazis didn't care if they were kids, old people, or women they just wanted to kill the Jews for what they believed it was a good reason, even though they weren't thinking of how much harm they were doing to all these people. This movie was really sad. When I saw it made me cry.
Another film that we watched was "The pianist" this class was a great movie it show as how was to leave in the ghetto in Germany everything that the Jews did to defend their self even women fought they didn’t care if they were less then the solders all that they wanted was to be free and treat as everyone because they didn’t do anything bad to deserved what was happening. This movie also show us how some Germans try to help the Jews even know they knew it was wrong to do it but they wanted to help them because some of them were against of what was happening. When I went home that day I went and show my family this film and everyone enjoy and learn a lot from it.
One of my favorites discussion was when we read “The Bear theWasn’t” that day everyone was involves in the class discussion I think everyone was involved because it was a interesting book and we all had different opinions and we share it with everyone at the end of that day I believe we all had the same opinion because when I saw the blog most of us had blog almost the same thing but with different words.
“The Freedom Writers” was another great movie. I saw this movie 2 years ago and it didn’t mean anything to me at that time but know that I saw it again it meant a lot to me it showed me how people from different races can be together not just because we are from different parts of the world and we have different color of skin we are better then the others. We all are humans and we make mistakes and it can happen to anyone not just because you are Latino or American you are better then any other races.
This films and discussion that we had in class were interesting and helpful. I learn a lot about everyone in class. Also I learn many things about the past and the present things that I have never hear from anyone.
Been I this class has open my eyes and I see the world different that I used to see it. Facing History was a great class was I learn who I really was, and what I want to be in the future. This class has help me in life I wish I this class were a little longer. I am really glad I took this class before I left High School because it will help me in life. This class help me to be more independent I know I can do anything that I want to do I just have to believe I can do it and that there is not impossible things to do you can do anything as longest you want to do it.
I always will remember this class and my teacher too. This class will always be in my head every time I want to do something I will always remember the words that my great teacher always say “You are who you want to be” since the firs day he say that in class I have always remember and every time I wake up that is one of the first thing that I remember and I know now who I really want to be. I took a lot of good things from this class I don’t regret anything that I have done in life because I know now that I always have been my self.
